Delano Hotel

1685 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, Florida 33139
Directions / Map
Walk up to the entrance and it’s obvious that this isn’t your typical Miami hotspot. Protected by a towering hedge (complete with Alice in Wonderland door), the driveway/front patio is a world away from the South Beach hustle and bustle on the other side. Famous for its plush, poolside bungalows and clean, minimalist decor, the Delano hotel is synonymous across the world with South Beach luxury and style. This is exactly what makes it a classic favorite amongst the jetset and where the fabulous frolic before going to their respective parties (the Delano winds down around 2-3am)...Tuesday nights are our
favorites.
Because the Delano is at the top of the South Beach “see and be seen” food chain, entry can be very tricky. As always, you can improve your chances of getting in by respecting the NightCure Trinity: dress to impress, get there early and get on our list. In addition to this, a high girls-to-guys ratio is a MUST!! They take their job of keeping the place chock full of gorgeous models very seriously here. If all else fails, it is after all a hotel, so they can’t keep you out if you splurge and get a room (approx. $400/night).
While the Delano's hotel rooms are fabulous in their own right, everyone knows that the real prizes are the famed Lobby and Pool/Orchard areas:
The Lobby
Whether you plan to hold an intimate conversation in one of the many alcoves created by well-placed floor to ceiling flowing white drapes or to play a game of billiards, the Delano's lobby is an interior designer’s dream: extremely high ceilings, over-sized mirrors, flowing white curtains and sexy hardwood floors (mmmm, is that red cherry??). All of this is complimented by Eames pieces that tend to look more like art than actual furniture. It’s the perfect setting for the ultra beautiful people of Miami to exchange small talk and numbers while enjoying top-notch cocktails from the hotel’s famed Rose Bar. The music is an eclectic mix of hip-hop, house and rock. But if you are on a mission to dance, this is not the place. The perfect place for South Beach people watching, the vibe here is laid back with heavy emphasis on sophisticated sexiness. If you intend to do it right, you should start the evening off with dinner at the famous Blue Door, the hotel’s resident culinary masterpiece. If you seek lighter fare, the Blue Sea, Miami’s most popular sushi restaurant, is located next to the Rose Bar. Both restaurants are open until 12am.
The Pool & Orchard
A smaller pool bar is located just outside the lobby doors that can whip you up a refreshing cocktail if you don’t feel like venturing all the way back inside to the Rose Bar. Comfy couches and chairs offer great seating options or you can stroll down the grass-covered stairs to the Orchard below. The Delano’s Orchard features an over-sized invisible edge pool complete with underwater music (please try to stay out of it if you are fully clothed). Whimsical touches include the wrought iron sitting area in the middle of the pool (where else are you supposed to drink champagne if you are swimming??) and an over-sized checkerboard complete with plate-sized pieces. The trees are strung with colorful lanterns and offer great spots for more intimate conversation. The hotel’s famous bungalows line both sides of the Orchard and with a constantly star-studded list of hotel guests that reads something like an award show roster, you never know who you may bump into…
Why It's Hot: The Delano's decor is as mind blowing as the hoards of celebs and beautiful people wandering around sipping on cocktails.
Why It's Not: Due to its open floor plan, the Delano's lobby can get a bit hot and muggy especially when the place is packed.
